Surgically-Attached Mirrored Shades FTW
I’ve already confessed I’m into steampunk, but that’s not the only thing with “punk” that I like; there’s also cyberpunk. Although the politics in most cyberpunk stories tend to be pretty laughable, (corporations eschewing the protection of the state, with its theft-funded, yet almost universally respected enforcers, for their own paramilitary security forces and mercenaries they have to pay themselves–why the hell would they do that?) I have a soft spot for them regardless. I’m mostly into the transhumanism stuff, cyborgs, implanted computers, augmented reality, but I also like the touch of noir these stories tend to have.
And now, it seems there’s going to be a cyberpunk (sadly not MMO)RPG called…Cyberpunk, based on the pen & paper RPG Cyberpunk 2020. Yay! And it will be developed by CD Projekt RED, A.K.A. the Witcher (2) guys, (well, another team, but within the same company) using their awesome-looking REDengine. Yay2! And it’s going to be a game for grownups™, no kiddie bullshit. Yay3! (I had to restrain myself from making a cheap cybersex joke here.)
Looks like another candidate for my watch list.
